Club Connect: Meet the… Stockton Hospitality & Tourism Society
Galloway, N.J. – 鶹ý’s Hospitality and Tourism program has gained traction over the past decade, thanks to the university’s close proximity to Atlantic City, which provides students with access to an overwhelming number of opportunities and industry experience.
Seeking a sense of community within the program, current advisor and club founder Tara Marsh created the alongside her friends to explore and learn more about the industry.
The society plans to host a Charcuterie and Sip Social with various cheeses, meats and fruits paired with mocktails on Monday, April 14, starting at 4:30 p.m. in the John F. Scarpa Academic Center in Atlantic City.
Join the club on and follow their Instagram and Facebook (@StocktonHospitalitySociety) for updates on upcoming meetings and events.
Alexander Eckmeder, a dual-degree student who serves as the club’s president, hopes new members are eager to dive into the industry and explore its various aspects.
“Members of the Stockton Hospitality & Tourism Society should expect to learn the ins and outs of traveling, event planning, volunteering in the industry and even getting behind-the-scenes tours of different hospitality-focused businesses,” Eckmeder said.
Last year, one of the club’s major events was a trip to Showboat and the newly opened Island Waterpark.
“We met the team behind the banquet and water park departments. We explored their on-site spaces to learn how they host events in their unique venues. Then, we got a tour of the newly built water park,” Eckmeder said.
Most recently, the organization visited The Hook, an adult variety show that explores the history of Atlantic City. According to Eckmeder, the show was “fun, whimsical and interactive,” with some students having the opportunity to meet the team that produced the show before the curtain rose.
For students interested in the hospitality and tourism industry, the club provides valuable hands-on learning experiences that go beyond the classroom.
